Standard procedures
NAF is used for fisheries related electronic data transmission. When possible Flag States or RFMO's (Regional Fisheries Management Organisations) should use NAF data-elements or messages as described in these lists.

Proposing new data-elements
Proposed new data-elements and/or messages should be submitted by email to postmaster@naf-format.org

Users will be notified of the proposed new data-element or message and they will be added to provisional lists for 60 days.

After this period the proposed new data-elements and or messages will be added to the list provided that no technical objection is received by the custodian.
